If this is your first pregnancy then you might be wondering about all of the baby stuff you'll need to have on hand when you're baby comes home. It can certainly be confusing in many cases. Here are some of the basic things you'll want to have.
Car Seat - This is necessary or you won't even be able to leave the hospital. Your best bet here is to buy a baby car seat that is brand new. I don't recommend buying one used unless you know the person who had it before. Even then, this is just something you should purchase new if at all possible.
Bassinet - A bassinet comes in very handy throughout the day and night. Your baby can sleep right next to you without having to be put in their crib. I used one every day for both of our children.
Baby Crib - Having a place to sleep is a must for every baby. The type and style is strictly a matter of personal choice. For those on a tight budget you can find some great deals on used cribs from garage sales, newspaper, or even family and friends.
Baby Stroller - If you plan on going shopping or anywhere that requires walking, having a baby stroller will make your life much easier. Today's strollers come with car seats and baby carriers as well, making things much more convenient.
Miscellaneous - Of course, you will need plenty of diapers and baby wipes. You'll also need several baby blankets, bottles, baby oil, hairbrush, nail clippers, thermometer and wash cloths.
Needless to say you are going to need plenty of baby clothes and formula if you are bottle feeding.
This is most of the basic baby stuff you will need right away. Of course, if you have a bigger budget, you can find so much more to purchase for your baby.
